Enzo Fittipaldi’s Budapest weekend in his words

With two points-scoring results in the preceding two races, momentum was definitely building for Enzo Fittipaldi and Van Amersfoort Racing.
The biggest factor holding the combination back was Qualifying, however around the Hungaroring, they put that right and reaped the rewards.
Here is how the Brazilian saw his race weekend in Budapest.
“The car we had was in a good window already from the first runs.”
“We executed in Qualifying for a front row. The car was in the window all weekend. I executed in Qualifying, I know I have good pace over one lap. We’ve really struggled over the past few rounds to have the car in the right window in Qualifying. So, I’m happy we were able to do that, and I hope we’re able to repeat that in Spa.”

“In the Sprint Race we got a puncture with like four laps to go. I think we could’ve finished in the top five but that didn’t happen. But that’s racing. Only two guys were able to make the Softs work in the Sprint. All the others had to box.

“In the Feature Race, starting from second my goal was to get Aron off the launch which I did, but unfortunately the guys behind me got a much better start, especially Martins, he flew by us into Turn 1. I think I did well to keep my second position. My pace was really good in the initial laps, I could see that I had more pace than Martins, so I went for a move on Lap 3 when DRS was enabled, and then Turn 2 around the outside.
“It was very close, we had a brief touch there somewhere but honestly, he defended really well. It sucked because I thought if I could have got him, then we could have had a podium.
“The clean air here is king. After that I used up my tyres quite a bit in trying to overtake him there, so I then had to back off a bit. Then a Safety Car came out, which really benefitted us at that point. We put the Hards on, and then the pace on the Hards wasn’t great.
“I got overtaken by Bortoleto which was for net P2. At the restart I had no grip. We were there in the fight for a net P3 but then the Safety Car in the last laps finished the race for the guys that started on the Softs.
“I’m happy we still maximised with P5. It’s frustrating thought that we didn’t get more.”
“I got my first F2 win there last year, I’m expecting to hopefully have another good race there this year. Spa is another crazy race, a lot can happen there. Hopefully we have a good Qualifying and then score good points.”
